General Info
      The 4th Annual Main Street Santa Monica Summer SOULstice is coming, featuring live music, a scavenger hunt with big prizes, children’s activities and fun for the whole family, and more, 11am to 6pm, on Main Street, Santa Monica, between Pico and Marine.
      A Beatles tribute band, a petting farm, and the chance to win a $550 surfboard from ZJ Boarding House or a meal for two at Chinois in a scavenger hunt are just part of the fun.
      Activities will be in the First Federal parking lot, on the Hollister and Kinney sidestreets, and in The Edgemar courtyard.
      Many Main Street merchants will be offering items on sale as part of the Sidewalk Sale, and many merchants will also be having customer appreciation open house specials and activities.


      Wildflour Pizza, 2807 Main, will be giving out free sample slices!!

Free Massage

      Free Shiatsu-Anma Massage Therapy, a free 15-20 minutes chair or table shiatsu session for Senior Citizens 60+ at the 2nd Annual Shiatsu Day at Shiatsu Massage School of California, 2309 Main, in conjunction with Main Street’s Summer SOULstice. 12:00PM-3:00PM, in front of 2309 Main.       Paintings & Design Gallery, 2525 Main, Ste #108, will celebrate a grand opening with light refreshments, representing the plein air landscape oil paintings of Peter Davidson. The gallery is accessed thru the walk-thru lobby of the historic Merle Norman Cosmetics Building. For info: 310/581-9385.

      Splash Bath & Body, 2823 Main, will have a MAN in their bubbled-up bathtub in the window this year-- in previous years they've had a woman in the tub. Eclectic Avenue, 2307 Main, will have a huge sale of up to 75% off! Gioia, 2721 Main, will have some special markdowns just for the weekend and 10% off the total purchases. And Accents Jewelry, 2900 Main, will offer 10% off all men's jewelry: necklaces, bracelets, rings, money clips for Sunday, June 20th only.

      Noon to 6pm there will be a variety of live music: country, latin, rock n roll, and more! Five Tribute Bands will play: 3 on Kinney across from Joe’s Main Street Diner (2917 Main): Highway 61 Revisited (Dylan), Soul Sacrifice (Santana), and Peace Frog (The Doors), and 2 will play in the First Federal lot (2817 Main): The Neil Deal (Neil Young) and Forever Fab (The Beatles).
      Richard Greene & The Brothers Barton, Jacqueline Fuentes & Ensemble, and The Western Continentals will play in the Edgemar Courtyard (2431 Main).
      For the kids, there will be pony rides, a petting zoo, Rockie the Clown (face-painting, animal balloon-twisting) Jersey Jim, Comedy Magician, and The Children's Nature Institute, all at Hollister & Main, north of Ocean Park Blvd. The Children's Nature Insitute will have their Wonder Mobile there-- it's a traveling science classroom with small live animals and other natural artifacts such as bones and pelts that children can touch and handle. The tables serve as an interactive space where parents and kids can feel and learn about the wonders of nature.

SCAVENGER HUNT!
      The 2nd Annual Main Street Summer SOULstice Scavenger Hunt will begin June 13. It’s an opportunity for participants to win big prizes! Contestants can win a surfboard from ZJ Boarding House, meals for two, clothing, beauty supplies and more.

      Prizes worth $200 or more are provided by Accents Jewelry, Bravo Pizzeria, Dharma Art, Paul Welsh at Dino/Clark Salon, Edgemar Center for the Performing Arts, LF Stores, Library Alehouse, Moonlight Rugs, Ocean Park Merchants Mart, Patagonia, Piero Salon, Precious Metal Arts, Deborah H. at Salon Blu, Sewjeannie, and Sumiko.

      And 50 merchants are providing prizes worth $50 or more, including Amelia’s, Arts & Letters, Ben & Jerry’s, Black + Blue, Blonde, Bryn Walker, Dhaba Cuisine, Eclectic Avenue, Eyes On Main, Fedora Primo, The Galley, Gioia, Herb King, Horizons West, Joe’s Diner, Mani’s Bakery, Natural High, Nature’s Grooming, O’Brien’s Pub, OM World, Panini Garden, Papillon Baby, Patagonia, Pebbles, Peet’s Coffee & Tea, Rockenwagner, Shoop’s Deli, Soul Sonic, Splash Bath & Body, Shane, Tao Healing Arts, Ten Women, The Rocketmen, Uroborus, Urth Caffe, and Yoga Works.

Clue Sheet
The Scavenger Hunt cluesheet is available now to download.

      The clue sheet will also be available June 13 at the Main Street Merchants Association table at the Main Street Farmer's Market, and at participating stores. Cluesheets can be dropped off at Joe's Diner, 2917 Main prior to and on the day of the SOULstice.
      SOULstice tables will be at the First Federal lot (2817 Main) and at the SOULstice “playground” at Hollister and Main; entry is free.

      The Summer SOULstice is produced by the Main Street Merchants Association and is co-sponsored by The Enterprise Fish Company, L.A. Weekly, and CityMap, with generous support from Joe's Dinner, Library Alehouse, Printing Palace, and Mary Sinclair Graphics.
      Parking is available in the Main Street municipal lots ($.50/hr) and all day parking is available at the beach lots only two blocks away for only $6.

  • Edgemar Courtyard, 2430 Main, east side: live music featuring Richard Greene & the Brothers Barton (Virtuoso Old Time & New Acoustic String Band music) at Noon, Jacqueline Fuentes & Ensemble (World Music with South American roots) at 2pm, and The Western Continentals (Classic Country & Honky Tonk in the Bakersfield Tradition) at 4pm.
